Leaving yesterday behind

2012 was my laziest year in blogging, and I am not proud of it but I must admit that the lost in interest was the main culprit. I would like to left it behind and I want to be active again in blogging this year. I will need a lot of motivation and fresh ideas to achieve this as at present I still don't have the drive to basically be active again. In my previous post I stated that I will be writing on the trips I made in the second half of the year. I already started making drafts but I just can't finish it so I never got to publish it.

I want to change the template of this blog, to help me move on and be active again but I still can't decide one that will be pleasing and clean looking. I might change the format of my writing too, maybe it might help me break away from the lost of interest in blogging.

I will be backwriting my trips I made last year in snippets or in whole depends on how good is my brain in recalling what transpired of the trip and alongside my present trips and some interesting activities. This blog will still be focusing on my travels and maybe I can insert some bragging if I have the guts to do so.

As I am looking forward for a wonderful 2013 both personal and career wise, so as for this blog too.

To the moon and back

It's been six months that this blog has not been updated. And my blogger friend is filing a complaint to where I don't know hahah, thanks Reena. Actually I have many things to write and share here during those months and drafts has been readied including photos to be posted. But I have been to the moon, just kidding and honestly I was not so into it (writing) and was just waiting for the right time until I regain my interest back into blogging. The past six months I have been out of the country a few times, I have been to Bangkok and Pattaya in Thailand as my birthday treat to myself. I went home in the Philippines for a quick hospital visit to my mother who has been hospitalized due to heart condition. I also been to neighboring Malaysia several weekends just for a quick r&r in Johor Bahru. I became addicted that I keep coming back there as I can't resist traveling out of Singapore. My job limited me from traveling on a longer period nowadays.

But last weekend I got to travel again to southeast asian city of Phnom Penh in Cambodia. It was a short trip but nevertheless a good one, since I got the opportunity to see and experience another city. I intend to come back there again as I think the city deserves a second visit heheh. The Cambodia's capital city may not be as slick and less glamorous compared to other neighboring ASEAN capitals but it has its own distinctive character that uniquely its own.

On the local front, after four years stay here in Singapore, I finally got the time to visit Jurong Bird Park, the largest bird sanctuary in the country. I finally watched the Waterworld show during my second visit to Universal Studios Singapore. I also been to Garden by the Bay, a new must visit place here in Singapore. I only explored a few of the attractions and need to come back to see the rest of this place to offer.

So expect that most of my entries in the coming updates will contains all that I just mentioned now.

Welcome back to me, and thanks for reading.

Peace!

Just an Update

Whoah! It is already mid month and yet this blog haven't leap to the new year.

Busy at work and family matter capped the year 2011 on a not so happy end for me.

I was prepared to not spend Christmas in a place outside of Singapore and resigned to have a repeat of how I spent it the the year before. But what I was not prepared to was to received the news that my mother was rushed to the hospital two days before Christmas due to heart problem. It was her second. My family back home literally spend Christmas in the hospital, and I left worried and alone  and waiting anxiously news from home. She's out of the hospital on new year's eve, and now she's undergoing physiotherapy as right part of her body was affected.

This blog is on

So this blog is in hiatus once again for over a month now. And no one is asking why. It goes to show that nobody is really reading my blog and those who happens to drop by were only because google direct them to here.

Anyway i am busy with work, and in the past month i was not able to go out on a trip because again due to work. And this will go on until the project completion targeted to be on April next year. Unlike in my previous job assignment, I am on my own here on my present post so i cannot file a short leave even if i am intitled to. So my short holidays will be on hold for now.

Pinoy Sunday

This is my second time to have watched an indie film with pinoy theme here in Singapore, the first one is Serbis

Pinoy Sunday is a film made in Taiwan by a Malaysian writer and director, with Filipino actors that plays out primarily in Tagalog. How's that? The theme of the movie is universal, it tackles the story of the migrant workers. In this particular movie it evolves around the two characters of two Filipino working in Taiwan, on their off day.

Just Birthday...

I cant recall when was the last time I got excited when this day is coming. As far as I can remember there is nothing a year that I really can say I had a memorable one. Every year it is always an ordinary day for me. I have never experienced to have a celebration that I can categorize as grand.  This day always come without fanfare.

Even now. I am not complaining. In fact I am thankful.  I give thanks to the Lord every year for continued support and guidance. Thanking and asking to continue to provide me things I need to survive in His world.

But just like any mortal, I have some grievances that I felt I have to deserve. I may sound ungrateful but I guess it is human nature.

…Happy not included. Don't bother to ask why.

Happiness Truck Philippines

In less than a month, another year…

I wish to have a truck that is converted into like this.

Happiness!

Colmar Tropicale in Bukit Tinggi Malaysia

My first foray of working overseas was in Malaysia. I was hired by an international civil and structural consulting firm based in the US with a local office in Kuala Lumpur. My job description is to oversee the site development and eventually the construction of a resort hotel at the heart of a virgin forest 45 minutes from the city of Kuala Lumpur. The project followed the next phase of development where a golf course and clubhouse and residential development has already been in placed.

July missed out

I have no single entry the whole month of July. Procrastination and busy work are the reasons for no update. I went back home second week of July for a week short vacation. The week before that I was rushing out some office work need to complete before I go for work off. Add to that I was rushing up shopping for presents to bring home, not that I bought more but what consumed more time was deciding and picking what to bring home.

Why I cannot post pictures in Blogger?

When I add pictures from my computer, I can upload it and image appears after that, but after I click the button done nothing appears on my post page.

Why is this?

*****

Its been days that I cannot post pictures on my blog. That's why I decided to post this question to solicit some answers and hoping someone can help me. At the same time I am searching the world wide web to look for the answer to this problem. But it seems I am the only one having this problem and no one have experience this before. Though I read similar queries from the forums I have visited, no replies has been posted so far. As Sherwin of Mokong (Anu'ng Nasa Isip ko) blog suggested, I checked the setting preferences and looked for the clue that might help me find the answer. After few times manipulating and clicking, answer was nowhere to find, lol (thanks anyway tol)

Then I resorted to finding the answer on my own. I checked if I have exceeded the alloted amount of pictures to be posted. The photos that are uploaded through blogger get stored in the picasa web albums. I am using the Picasa web album to store my pictures and little did I knew that it filled up space too. I have so far occupied 33% of the alloted space and 75% of this for my stored pictures. I decided to delete all the pictures I have stored instead of the option to upgrade my quota storage, so it now reduce to 12% . But this also did not solve my problem. I still cannot post pictures after few tries with time interval.

My last resort was to reset the template and be prepared for the consequences of redoing all the items I have modified. Obviously it worked. Now I can post pictures once again.

Up to now, I don't have a clue what was the cause of the problem. Can someone speak up or forever I will be in dumb amazement.

Minding other's business

This morning while riding on a bus going to work, I seated in the rear end of the bus. Unknowingly I was seated behind a kabayan who was busy fondling his nokia phone. I thought he was just playing or something until I become curious and after few minutes, gave in and dunked over to peep what he was doing. He was reading one by one all the text messages stored on his phone. Guess from where all the messages came from? Yes from his girlfriend or someone registered in his phonebook as baby. I got curious and carried away so it’s like we were reading it together. What made me hooked reading with him was the way the text messages has been exchanged. Apparently his baby was nagging him on something that she was asking for, an assurance from him the things like ‘you are there and I am here’ scenarios. What struck me was the lady’s varied messages, some I find hilarious, well in my point of view but it was composed in serious monotone. What struck me more was that the guy seems enjoyed reading them, well so as I suspected. I can’t imagine that she can come up all those messages, because looking at the guy, he seems does not fit to his baby's insinuations.

One word come up to my mind: suspicion. In a long distance relationship, there suppose to be no room for suspicion. In order for you two to survive distance relationship, you must learn to trust your partner whole heartedly. A single suspicion will break the bond you have for each other and it is a beginning of the end if you start to suspect your partner at any point of your long distance relationship.

And what are these text messages which I find hilarious, you would ask? Better not.

My voyeurism caused me to miss the bus stop and a 10 minutes late time.

Turning into Minima

Reading other blogs writing about their observations, often summarizing and categorizing it, of the blogs they read is quite intimidating for me learning they are my readers too. In their write up they will tell his readers unwittingly how he find bloggers writings not to far to their likings, the motives of having blogs, and so on. Knowing that they regularly read my blog too and consciously aware that my blog is one being pointed to not in a good way, I suddenly develop paranoia and unconsciously losing interest updating my blog. So you see, I don’t have degree to boost to be a good writer, Back in college if you are in engineering department, the arts and sciences department will often dismiss you as English morons. Our Arts and Sciences instructors treat us engineering students lightly and oftentimes will not test our limits capability on the subject; and yes we are trained to be technical writers. But that was during my time, I don’t know if it is still the same today.

No I am not making excuse here why I have few entries these past few weeks. But I can’t deny this observation I have stated has got to do with it. So, either I have to stop reading friends blogs so I can regularly update my own without hesitation, or keep reading them and eventually immunes myself of what they’re saying, then I can write whatever pleases me my own way.

Or maybe not. I am experiencing a mental block syndrome once again. No matter how anxious I am to write something, nothing comes up. Too bad that because of this I am slowly losing interest to blog. I was tempted to discontinue blogging for awhile and gone hiatus. Then suddenly it hit me. I am only bored. And when I am bored change is inevitable.

Have you seen my tumblr blog? And yes I have a new one in wordpress. Please visit them too.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

This coming weekend will be longer than usual due to Chinese New Year holidays. My worksite is somber since last week as everybody seems on a holiday mode. Nobody now seems to care if there is deadline to meet and works to be completed. It's pretty much the same during Christmastime back home. But unlike in pinas where everybody is expected to come home for the holidays, here everybody is expected to be out of the country, though with the economic crisis, I think there are few who were contemplating to just stay home. I myself given the four days I will be idle, I was planning to go back home and do holidaying in Iloilo City for the Dinagyang festival. But that plan will not be materialize as there is no more available plane seat from Manila to Iloilo. Rather than pursuing a trip back home, I made option of a bus trip to Kuala Lumpur or an overnight trip to Bintan which is just a boat ride from Singapore. As money would be the deciding factor given the little amount left after the Christmas spending, I might just stay home and spend the rest of the holidays on the world wide web. Anyway given the current situation I just might save the money for the stormy days aka economic crisis we are going to embraced.

Killing time

Every year around this time back home, after the all spending mode of Christmastime, I busied myself doing things trying to console myself for being broke. As money was not an issue during the holiday, I maximized spending all the money I have and received before the Christmas and the half-month pay at the end of the year. So during these days of January I end up almost having nothing to spend. Busying myself, means doing things that doesn’t involve spending money. After work you will find me inside bookstores reading magazines, and all sorts of books, and with frequency that one time the guard who was tasked to roam around had recognized me and told me pointblank that I have mistaken the store as a library which I countered back saying that I just haven’t find the book I will going to buy. Other that I watched movies, visit Timezone until my top-off card went zero. Watching movies then was cheap until the big malls came out with their humungous theaters that eat so much space and air-condition that as few people coming in due to high ticket price and cheap pirated DVDs' abundance you will end up watching movie inside a refrigerator. In few times with no much money and etching to kill time, I ended up watching movies in second run movie houses and boy what an experience you don’t want to have. I wonder if such thing is still happening up to now.

A new look

Yes! I change my webpage and you are not lost. I finally completed my rejuvenation work for two nights and a day, and honestly I'm impressed with the outcome. I do hope you too my avid readers.

By the way my cable channels is still same.

Do they think I'm stupid?

This morning I received a call from my cable television provider telling me that I am one of the lucky subscribers who have been upgraded from my 15 channels to 40 channels free of charge for six months. Instead of being ecstatic I end up complaining. Since day one my tv reception keeps on hanging. The first time I complained they told me to reboot and check the line installation, filter and on/off the modem then it would be okay. True enough for a day. The next day it’s the same thing and so I called them again and requested for a technician’s visit since maybe there is something wrong somewhere. The lady who answered my call told me that it is normal for a new connection in the first week I just have to be patient and once the modem become accustomed to (sic), my reception will then be okay (As I was away for more than a week that time I did not have the chance to repute such explanation). When I insist for a technician visit the next day she told me that there is no available, that was Thursday, and will only available in three working days. When I told her it would not possible since I will be out of the country by that time, she won’t budge. After several begging and end up by telling her that I will just terminate my subscription, she did not give in and told me that cancellation is not possible since I already sign for a year contract. I was disappointed and mad. The next day at lunch time while I was in office she called me that the technician is on the way to my place to check my connection. After so many begging to her the day before and she keep on insisting that there is no way a technician will be available the following day, then all of a sudden a call. I end up madder. Why? My office is far from my place and it is not possible for me to come home and be able to accommodate the technician and she knew it. Had she checked first the schedules of their technicians before she dropped instantly my request she would have learned that there is a technician visiting my block at lunchtime. So out of exasperation, I ended her call abruptly.

After I come back from vacation, reception seems okay for at least few days then the problem recur again. So, for me to watch tv I have to switch off the modem every after hang up. I did not make complain then until today. So when this guy called me this morning I told him about this dilemma, he said he will call me back. True enough he called back and told me that my problem can be solved by subscribing for a new telephone line just for the cable, I was dumbfounded.

By the way I still have to check when I’m home later if really my number of channels had been increased to 40 from only 16 channels. I have doubt because the real reason why he called was to convince me to subscribe to season pass.
Dung!
