"The Helix" Bridge

The pedestrian bridge which serves as a direct connection between the Marina Center to the Bayfront area where the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort is located was officially named "The Helix" last Saturday night against a backdrop of pyrotechnic show. The landmark pedestrian bridge is DNA-inspired structure and being touted as the world's first curved double helix bridge.

The 280-meter bridge is made of steel tubes forming a major and minor helix winding each other from end to end. The bridge has canopies made of fritted-glass and perforated steel mesh to provide shade. It has five viewing platforms strategically located across the entire length for great viewing experience of the Singapore skyline.

I was one of the many who witness its opening ceremony.
